                                                                                    UPA (Unicamp Open Doors)

The UPA is the biggest event of the university and happens once a year. The event aims at presenting to high school students wishing to enter the university how Unicamp works. Along the event high school students get to know more about the university, its technical and graduation courses, its units and the projects developed in them, plus information concerning social grants and student mobility. Students from various places around Brazil visit the campus in order to get information about the course they wish to join or even to find out which course better suits them. During UPA Unicamp undergraduate students are the ones who are responsible for presenting the different course curriculums and they also talk about the job market and careers concerning each scientific area, and about other kinds of information related to courses and the university.
In 2012 UPA had the slogan "Make you present. And win the future”. The event happened on Saturday 1st September 2012 and differently from previous editions which lasted two days, this year it took only one day and received an audience of approximately 40 thousand people.
During the 2012 UPA we listened to two high school students who spoke about the importance of UPA for helping students choose an undergraduate course. Fabiana Manoel, 17 years old, lives in Campinas and is taking the 3rd and last year at high school, the student that didn’t know the Unicamp before, thought in enter to Letters course, and it was through her that the UPA had really sure of your choice the course.. She said UPA really contributes to help students better understand the university and its undergraduate courses, it presents in details the courses from all areas, institutes and extension projects carried out by the university.
Kleber (16), a student from Santa Barbara D'Oeste, attends his 1st year at high school, already knew the Unicamp, but according to him, not as well as after participating in the 2012 UPA. He plans to do Mechanical Engineering and believes UPA had great importance for him to take that decision, because during the event he got to know the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and found out details about the course shared by students who are already taking the course at Unicamp.

JELT - Language Teaching and Technology Workday

The first edition of the event happened on September 28th (Workday on Language Teaching and Technology). The realization of JELT was an initiative of the Research Group called "Foreign Language Teaching, Training and Technology Citizen” (CEL-Unicamp/CNPq). The objective of this event was to promote discussions about possible interfaces between "New Epistemologies, Language Teaching and Technology"
The main objectives of this meeting were: to promote reflection and discussion in the area of language teaching, from the perspective of citizen formation, creating an interface with technology, discuss the role of foreign language in the University, and discuss teaching objectives, teaching practices and political actions concerning the processes of education internationalization and expansion of access to the university, providing opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students and professionals to engage themselves in academic practices that enable them to create the link between research in foreign language teaching, theory and practice.
Moreover, another goal of the event was also to narrow boundaries between teachers and students within university academic context, especially undergraduates. With that, JELT can be understood as a space and a different job time developed by students and researchers aimed at the production of knowledge, and at discussing language studies, education and technology.

In this first edition JELT had several presentations in the form of oral communications and posters. The authors of these works are researchers with different performances in the Brazilian academic-scientific scenario: teachers and undergraduate and graduate researchers who work in different areas such as Literature, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Education and Technology.
